The down votes wow. Yeah that's reddit.
Tbf I'd down vote them for coming up with a shit answer
Apparently raising a child is half no porn half just get it right
Shut the fuck up.
I'm saying its vague and stupid and doesn't answer the question
Yeah the vagueness really is the worst part. Lots of peoples’ ideas of “proper” end up being abuse and they won’t stop because they think they’re doing the right thing.
Not even like teach them healthy relationships between themselves and woman, just "raise then right and smack if they wack"
“Just keep them away from porn” is also impractical bc like. Even if you have internet filters and such they WILL find a way of circumventing them, or find a website that you missed because there’s dozens and dozens of different porn sites out there. And generally speaking, the more aggressive you are with telling your child to stay away from sexual content, the more likely they are to end up seeking it out due to curiosity and that sense of “ehehehe I’m doing something bad”
It’s much better to sit down and teach your kid (particularly as they grow older) about the importance of consent and the fact that what they see in porn doesn’t necessarily equate to what’s feasible or (depending on the person) enjoyable in real life. Providing them with actual books and resources about sex and consent can also help-- but that doesn’t mean pornography itself is bad or going to ‘corrupt’ them. It just shouldn't be their SOLE source of sexual information. They need to know that some things in porn are just fantasies, and that real sex looks a lot different and/or has a lot more going on behind the scenes compared to just what you see on camera.
Also the idea that incel behavior is born from a nebulous porn addiction and that it isn’t just a product of small boys being told-- usually by their parents, not by porn-- that women are things to conquer and control as opposed to human beings with bodily autonomy, opinions, and needs. Absolutely bizarre take.
